Travel Icon March 29, 2006  Business Travel Publishing Experts Launch Fresh New Firm; The Beat To Be Bought
Brooklyn, NY and Ridgefield, CT - Business Travel Beat Inc., parent company of travel business newsletter The Beat, yesterday signed a letter of intent to be acquired by ProMedia.travel LLC, a new firm positioned to electrify business travel industry publishing.
ProMedia.travel was founded by longtime business travel publishing professionals Tim Reid, Jay Campbell and David Jonas. They will leverage more than 40 combined years of experience producing renowned industry publications including Business Travel News, Meeting News and The Beat.
"The business travel media market has not successfully evolved from print to electronic delivery mechanisms," said Reid, who is CEO and president of the new firm. "Identifying the business travel decision maker or purchaser has become significantly more challenging, and corporate travel buyers need to be addressed based on targeted demographic criteria."
ProMedia.travel intends to generate qualified prospects and leads for travel industry marketers through vertical, targeted opportunities including new publications Management.travel and The Transnational. Buoyed by their editorial know-how, ambition and enthusiasm for new products, Campbell, founder of The Beat, and Jonas, former Business Travel News senior editor, are taking industry news, data gathering and content dissemination to a new level.
"I'm very proud of what my colleagues and I have accomplished with The Beat," said Campbell, ProMedia.travel's chief content officer. "It has made its mark, but the travel industry is massive and diverse, and even within business travel there are untold opportunities to create new and exciting communications channels."
Much of the data and information currently available in the business travel market applies only to subsets of executives and travel professionals. Even within the business travel niche, specialization is critical. The information needs of multinational firms, for example, differ greatly from those of small and medium enterprises. By properly segmenting the market and using the most efficient channels, ProMedia.travel will deliver appropriate content to each target reader.
The Transnational, which will launch on April 19, is specifically designed to address the news and information needs of travel professionals working at multinational companies. Management.travel, due to launch a week later, will provide corporate, government and university travel managers and their travel agency partners analysis of the latest news and best practices pertaining to travel program management and operations. Travel industry professionals can learn more at http://www.promedia.travel.
The Beat, a travel business newsletter, remains a subscriber-supported product and will continue to transmit unmatched news, views and interviews nearly every business day--complete with its trademark attitude. About ProMedia.travel
