Readers of The Beat selected Southwest Airlines as their overall most admired travel supplier in a survey conducted this summer and announced here at The Beat Live, ProMedia.travel's travel business conference. The Beat's editors this week presented Southwest with the 2009 Supplier of the Year award.
For the second consecutive year, Continental Airlines took The Beat Readers' Choice award in the airline category; Concur again won as most admired technology provider; American Express repeated as most admired payment system; Hertz won for most admired car rental company; and Marriott International earned its second-straight recognition as most admired hotel company.
BCD Travel won its first The Beat Readers' Choice award as the most admired travel management company.
In an online poll, readers of The Beat were asked to write in which company in each of the six supplier segments they "most admire for its policies, management style and service for business clients." They also were asked to indicate their overall most admired vendor. The Beat disqualified votes from those who voted for their own employer.
